About Wounded Veteran Run
Wounded Veteran Run is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization inspired by the daily perseverance and dedication of our nations combat wounded service members. Our goal is to raise awareness and donations for Veteran supporting non-profits and implement programs to support and thank Veterans within our community.
Starting in 2011, Wounded Veteran Run was created by a local personal trainer as a way to promote physical fitness while simultaneously paying honor to her brother who was severely injured while serving in Afghanistan on 14 July 2010. While spending time with her brother at Walter Reed Hospital she came in contact with many other wounded Veterans and wanted to find a way to help support all of our injured troops. An annual 10K, 5K, and 3K running/walking event on Memorial Day seemed like the perfect solution.
Purple Heart Fund
The Purple Heart Fund is a grant program created by Wounded Veteran Run that will help aid in the recovery of local wounded Veterans. The grant will assist a local non-profit in its efforts to provide care and services to our injured service members. The funds will be given to a qualifying organization on Veterans Day- November 11. Applications will be accepted for the grant up until October 10th. Qualification information and application found here.
